Bumble and bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish (plus how to save $ on Bb generally)

I have the flattest hair in America, thanks to the winning combination of a super fine texture and greazy (not greasy, greazy) scalp. Based on my stint of trying every product on the market--back in the day, when I had hope--I've been inclined to think traditional volumizers are mostly a racket: either doing zero or kinda sorta providing lift for a minute but also flakiness AND itchiness.

Nowadays you can't swing a tit without hitting 10 brands of dry shampoo, which (I find) tend to volumize better than traditional stand-alone volumizers. But what to use if you just washed your hair?

So far the only product that's ever worked for me is the Bumble and bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish. I spray it on after I blow dry, put the hair up in a banana clip while I go about the rest of my morning, let it out and I have big hair. Well, relatively. It doesn't last all that long either, but you know what? You can use it more than once in a day. I've done it in the morning and in the evening before going out. I've gone through 3 cans.

OK, OK, if you've been on a true journeyquest for bigger hair, chances are you've already tried this product. But to reward you for reading this post until the end, here are some current tips on how to save on the cost--for this and other Bb products on their website:

  • Right now they're offering a free mini with a full-size purchase Edit 2/1/2018: no longer available.
  • You can get a coupon at Gilt City for $25 off $75 PLUS free shipping AND a free gift set with purchase: While You Sleep Starter Kit, which includes Save The Day Daytime Protective Repair Fluid, While You Sleep Overnight Damage Repair Masque, and a Sleep/Eye Mask. Plus they give free samples with any order, so yeah, a lot of free product. Good until 2/11/2018.
  • On top of that, if you have an American Express card, you may have an offer where you can get $20 back as a statement credit after spending >$75. The easiest way to find it is on the Amex app, under "Offers". You can also find it somewhere on the website although it's more clicking around. So basically, if you stack this on top of the Gilt City coupon, you can get $45 off an order of $100 or more.
  • This'll tide you over till the holidays, right? Because their Black Friday gifts with purchase are usually ridic too--like 5 deluxe samples on top of the typical sample packets, and the last two holiday seasons they offered a gift set that included the Thickening shampoo and conditioner in addition to the Dryspun itself, all for the cost of less than Dryspun alone.
Happy volumizin'! (or sea sprayin', I hear that one's nice too)
